True Meditation
There are many kinds of meditations: guided meditations, manifestation meditations, etc. But, true meditation is not directed towards an object or goal. Rather, It has no goal, no objective, no words. It is a surrender or letting go. Any method that aims to shift a state of mind is limited, and impermanent and likely from the conditioned mind. These methods are various forms of 'mind' becoming more intrigued with itself leading to bondage. True meditation is pure awareness.
Our conditioned mind is amazing in its ability to convince 'itself' that its experience is true meditation. When you first begin your meditation the mind will manipulate or control awareness. It often focuses on an object: be that your thoughts, an emotions, memories, association, perception, sensation, etc. The mind's job is to limit. It is conditioned to focus on objects and interpret and control the object in a mechanical and distorted way. All interpretations are based on the conditioning and therefore the conclusions and assumptions come from our emotional and mental memories, associations perceptions and sensations.
In true meditation awareness rises beyond objects of any kind. This does not mean the mind is manipulated to become quiet. It means all are left to be what they are. When we move beyond the objects of awareness we move into being awareness, not being aware of something but being awareness itself.
Being awareness all separation subsides objects fade and pure silence of rests in the Absolute.
