Biology of Belief Review

Bruce Lipton Book

Shattering the scientific myths

Dr. Bruce Lipton taught cell biology at University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine, did much of his intitial research work at Stanford University, and has taught at many schools and universities since tries to shatter the popular misconceptions.

Bruce Lipton explains the working of certain proteins that act like on-off switchs to DNA. Environmental factors and our own beliefs are sets of switches where the input determines the outcome.  Changing your life requires making different choices. This is known as epigenetics. The issues of what information get's programmed is another article.  Why? Because so much of our belief is set in play before age seven.

Lipton shows us how the cell membrane has intelligence and senses signals and responds to them.  The cell membrane has receptors for detecting chemical signals (from internally-produced chemicals such as hormones, or food, etc.) and vibrational signals. This is a critical factor in determining our wellbeing. Energy healing, vibrations, thoughts and feelings all have an impact.

Quantum biology

Lipton moves on to the chemistry and physics of the body. He talks about cell level biology, chemical reactions, and physics as the basis of all science.  Lipton takes us through the quantum physics of the body!

Since quantum physics is about the smallest particals and actions and reations of these particals it seems only right that Lipton takes us in this direction. Newtonian Physics works for massive particals and explains planetary movement and gravity but Lipton maintains the new cell biology requires quantum physics to understand this mirco-world.

After reading this book watch a video with Lipton. He provides a solid explanation of cell dynamics, how the cell processes information, after all this is all about information on the cellular level.

Biology and belief

This book will not appeal to traditionalist.  It needs even more of a textbook feeling acceptance from this group. Although it has many clinically proven cases in which belief played the critical part in healing:

  • Knee arthritis patients who received fake surgery recovered just as well as patients who received real surgery.  (Both groups received the same post-operation care, including exercise.)  They believed they received real treatment, and that was enough to throw away their canes and play basketball with their grandchildren.
  • In depth analysis of FDA data shows antidepressant pills did not outperform the sugar pills.  The reason the depression patients got better was because they believed the pill would help.  (Don’t ask me why then those pills got approved by FDA.)
  • A case of a cancer patient who died some time after the initial treatment, as expected with this type of cancer.  However, the autopsy revealed he didn’t die of cancer — meaning he died because he, along with the doctors, believed he would die.

So you can kill someone if you can convince them what they swallowed was a poison.  It would be a perfect murder because doctors won’t be able to identify the cause of death.  Belief is this powerful.
